Sarah Kisa (PhD) is a mathematics educator at secondary and tertiary education levels. Sarah has a vast mathematics teaching experience spanning 36 years, six of which were at secondary school level, both ordinary and advanced ( O and A) levels; and 30 years at tertiary level. She has taught various mathematics courses to undergraduate and graduate students at Kyambogo University in Uganda; supervised numerous undergraduate research studies and one graduate student. Sarah has participated in the development of undergraduate and graduate programmes of Kyambogo University, been involved in developing self-study materials (modules) for diploma and degree Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) awards of Kyambogo University and Uganda Martyrs’ University, Nkozi. Her research undertakings include: Mathematics Achievement of Senior Three Students in Single Sex and Coeducational Schools in Uganda; and Teachers’ Expectations and Instructional Practices of Primary One learners’ Mathematics Competence. These studies aimed at recommending best classroom practices for improving the teaching and learning of mathematics across grade levels in Uganda. At the global level, Sarah has worked as a researcher with Uwezo Uganda on the UNESCO Spotlight Report on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) in Uganda (2023-2024).
