An
education consultant based in the UK, is working for Uwezo Uganda as adviser on
research, innovations and fund-raising. He has previously contributed to three
of Uwezo’s assessment reports for Uganda (2015, 2016 and 2019) as lead analyst
and writer. James has a doctorate in Educational Policy Studies and has worked
for long periods in Nigeria, the Bahamas and Lesotho. He has done research and
consultancy work on basic education and the management of the teaching force.
When based in Lesotho, he initiated the establishment of teacher education
programmes for ECCE and SEN. Over the past 15 years he has advocated more
public investment in ECCE and more systematic provision for SEN in low-income
countries. James’s pare-time interests include cross-country running and
hill-walking, historical novels and novels about modern Africa. He has also
engaged in some human rights advocacy.
