Dr. Yusuf K Nsubuga

Dr. Nsubuga is currently working as an international Educational Consultant and also the vice chairperson of Uganda Network on Law, Ethics and HIV/AIDS. He is the founder and director of Peace and Education centre of Uganda and also director for Gyagenda Education centre, Wakiso District. He holds a Doctorate Degree in Education Leadership (Nelson
Mandela Metropolitan University), Masters Degree in Education Administration and Planning (MUK), Bachelors of Arts in Economics and Rural Economy (MUK) and a Diploma in Education -Business studies (National Teachers College). Dr. Nsubuga is the former Director for Basic and Secondary Education in the Uganda’s Ministry of Education and Sports and Commissioner for Secondary Education, worked as Headteacher of several Secondary Schools for nine years and before that a teacher of Economics, Mathematics, Commerce and Principles of Accounts. He previously, worked with Uganda AIDS Commission as a Program Officer for Technical Support and Training, Coordinator for Law,
Ethics and HIV/AIDS, Coordinator for Policy and Programming and finally as Head of the Social and Economic Sector and the first Coordinator of the African Network on Law, Ethics and HIV/AIDS.
Dr Nsubuga was chairperson of the Governing Council of the National Curriculum Development Centre; Uganda; (2010 to 2015) and a member of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), (for two terms of 5 years each) and where he chaired the Examinations Security Committee and the Appointments and Disciplinary committee. He is a member of several Governing Councils of Universities: Kampala International University, (2008 to date); Kampala University (2010 to date); Muteesa 1 Royal University (2018 to date), YMCA Institute (2016 to date), and Avance University where he is the vice Chairperson. He also chaired the Ministry of Education Sector’s Policy and Management Working Group and also occasionally chaired the Education Sector Consultative Committee. Dr. Nsubuga is an affiliated Research Fellow with the Institute for International Studies in Education, School of Education University of Pittsburgh, USA. He participated in the development of the National Framework for Sexuality Education in Uganda and has participated as an Education Expert consultant in providing Quality Assurance for the Local Government Performance assessment for 2019.
Dr Nsubuga is a women activist; fighting for Women empowerment socially and economically and he has helped to establish two women organizationsMawanga Women Development Association in Munyonyo and Kiteetika Rural Women Development Association where I am currently one of the Directors. Recently before Covid-19, he was a co-consultant for the programme on Strengthening Examination and Assessment system of Uganda to make it adaptive, resilient and self –improving, a component under the SESIL program of the Uganda’s Ministry of Education and Sports supported by the Department for International Development of UK.
