Dan Kyagaba

Dan Kyagaba is an educationist, trained and experienced in education and educational assessment. He trains teachers, curriculum developers and staff of examination bodies on, especially, the practical skills of implementation of competency based assessment from test design, item development, instruments administration to reporting, areas in which he is now a consultant, among other educational assessment aspects. He has a passion for improving the quality of teaching and learning through improving the assessment literacy levels of the teachers.

He works with Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), an institution he has worked for for over thirty years, and is now the current Manager for the Department of National Assessment of Progress in Education (NAPE) in UNEB. He has steered the conduct of the large scale assessment (NAPE) under UNEB in Uganda, for years now.

He also serves as External Examiner for some Universities in Uganda; and had practised teaching in secondary schools, examinership for lower and upper secondary examinations with UNEB and was a tutor at the former National Teachers’ College, Nkozi in Uganda. He is an author, with works recognized by Uganda’s National Curriculum Development Centre for use in schools in Uganda

He is also a trained journalist and had worked with the then Uganda’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in the print media; and also had a stint at broadcasting with the then Radio Uganda.
